Scripture Reading
Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Reflection
The invitation is to the weary — those who have been carrying more than they were designed to carry. A yoke does not remove work; it makes work bearable by distributing the load and keeping two animals aligned. To take Christ's yoke is to be yoked with him: his strength joined to ours, his direction guiding ours. Ordinary time is where we learn, day by day, to walk in step with him.
Prayer for Today
Lord, my Counselor, as we seek restoration from this affair, grant us an understanding of the issues that have contributed to unfaithfulness. First, help us both to confront anything blocking our relationship with You and to restore that intimacy and obedience. And help us to address and repair the breakdown in communication and affection with each other, and commit to a relationship that reflects Your love for us. Amen.
Amen.
