Take Heart

Scripture Reading

John 16:33

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Reflection
Ordinary time begins with one of the most honest and most bracing things Jesus ever said. He does not promise a trouble-free life — he guarantees difficulty. But the guarantee of trouble is paired with a greater guarantee: "I have overcome the world." The tense is perfect, completed action. The victory is already accomplished. We live ordinary days inside that victory, even when the trouble is very real.
Prayer for Today
May today there be peace within.

May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance.

It is there for each and every one of you.

Amen.

Amen.
