Do Not Be Anxious

Scripture Reading

Matthew 6:34

"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Reflection
Jesus does not say that tomorrow holds no trouble — he says it holds enough of its own without borrowing it in advance. Anxiety is often future-living, inhabiting a day that has not arrived while missing the one we are in. The discipline of presence — attending to today's grace and today's need — is both a spiritual practice and a gift to those around us.
Prayer for Today
Almighty God, You know what I need before I even ask and You know how ignorant I am. Please release me from these anxious thoughts and help me see Your gifts. Aid me in reaffirming my faith so that I can serve You as You first intended. In Your Name, Amen.

Amen.
