Scripture Reading

Deuteronomy 33:27

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, "Destroy them!"
Reflection
Moses's final blessing to Israel contains one of Scripture's most tender images: everlasting arms beneath us, holding us up when we have no more strength of our own. This is not the image of a God who sends help from a distance but one who is underneath, closer than the ground itself. Whatever you are afraid of falling into today — failure, grief, loss — remember the arms beneath. You cannot fall through them.
Prayer for Today
Lord God, we thank you for the gift of new life. We thank you for this precious baby's safe arrival into our world. We pray this baby would sleep peacefully and be kept from harm. We pray you would bless this child as they grow. Keep them safe and strong in the weeks, months and years ahead. Give us grace and strength through the highs and lows of caring for a newborn baby. In Jesus' name. Amen

Amen.
