James 3:17-18
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
Reflection
Heavenly wisdom has a specific texture: it is peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy. James contrasts it with the bitter jealousy and selfish ambition that cause earthly strife. The ordinary days of our lives are the fields where this wisdom — or its absence — is either sown or withheld. We become peacemakers or conflict-breeders one small choice at a time.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are quick to forgive. Thank You, that You have removed our sins as far as the east is from the west. Right now, Lord, we ask of You mercy and compassion, and we implore the forgiveness of sins. In Jesus' name,
