Walk Humbly

Scripture Reading

Micah 6:6-8

With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? ... He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Reflection
When the question becomes "what does God really want?", Micah's answer is both demanding and freeing: three verbs, not a sacrifice schedule. Justice is acted out in real choices. Mercy is not a feeling but a love that is oriented toward the other. Humility before God reshapes both. This is the summary of the law and prophets in a single sentence, centuries before Christ would sum them up in two.
Prayer for Today
Father, let your favour make me be at the right place at the right time in the name of Jesus.

Amen.
