Matthew 9:37-38
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Reflection
Jesus does not call us to panic about the size of the task but to pray for more workers. His response to a vast spiritual need is intercession. The harvest belongs to God; our part is faithful labor and faithful prayer that others would join the work. Begin today by praying specifically for one person to be sent.
Prayer for Today
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in unity,
that our praise and worship
might echo in these walls
and also through our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in mission,
that the hope within
might be the song we sing,
and the melody of our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in service,
that the path we follow
might lead us from a stable
to a glimpse of eternity.
draw us together in unity,
