Psalm 103:13
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.
Reflection
On Father's Day, this verse moves in two directions at once: it tells us something about earthly fathers and something about God. Good fathers show compassion — they bend toward their children's weakness, they do not crush what is fragile. And this is precisely the image God chooses for his own tenderness toward us. Wherever a father's love has been imperfect, God's is the measure and the repair.
Prayer for Today
Lord we thank you for your faithfulness. Your love never ends and you are such a good, good Father. Thank you for your never ceasing mercies. We praise you for your love toward us.
