Matthew 4:1-2
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
Reflection
Jesus did not wander into the desert accidentally — the Spirit led him there. The wilderness is not a sign of God's absence; sometimes it is the very place he draws us for formation. In forty days of fasting, Jesus identified fully with our hunger and vulnerability. Lent is an invitation to follow him into those stripped-down places where we learn who we really are and who God is.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, we pray that You will lay your healing Hands upon all those who are sick. We beg You to have compassion on all those who are suffering so that they may be delivered from their pitiful circumstances. In Jesus, we pray. Amen.
