Saint of the Day
Our Lady of Guadalupe

In December 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared four times to a newly baptized indigenous Mexican man, Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City. She identified herself as the Mother of the True God, spoke to him in Nahuatl, and left her image miraculously imprinted on his tilma (cloak). The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City is now one of the most visited Catholic shrines in the world. Juan Diego was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002.

Scripture Reading

Revelation 12:1

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.
Reflection
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego in 1531, wrapped in the symbols of this cosmic vision — clothed with the sun, standing on the moon, crowned with stars. The apparition brought hundreds of thousands to faith in Christ across the Americas. Mary always points beyond herself to her Son: in Guadalupe's image, she stands not enthroned but pregnant, carrying the world's hope within her.
Prayer for Today
Dear God, please give me strength when I am weak, love when I feel forsaken, courage when I am afraid, wisdom when I feel foolish, comfort when I am alone, hope when I feel rejected, and peace when I am in turmoil.

Amen.
