Scripture Reading
Romans 8:37-39
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection
Paul lists every possible category of threat — cosmic, temporal, spiritual, physical — and declares them all incapable of severing the bond between God and his people. This is not optimism based on circumstances but a confidence rooted in the cross: the love that went all the way to death cannot be undone by anything less. Nothing in all creation can reach far enough, go deep enough, or move fast enough to cut you off from that love.
Prayer for Today
O Lord,
My grandpa has been one of the biggest influences of my life here. He read me stories about Jesus when I was very little. I have so many fond memories of him and he has been a solid example of Jesus to me. Lord, he is not doing well and I am fighting back the tears daily. Lord, I'm not ready for grandpa to leave for heaven. Father, if it is Your will, I pray that you would heal him. Father, You know what is best and I am at Your humble mercies. Please, if at all possible, heal my grandpa and allow us one more Christmas with him. I love You and I need You! Amen
