Isaiah 40:3-4
A voice of one calling: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain."
Reflection
The prophet does not describe a gentle adjustment but a massive reordering of the landscape — valleys raised, mountains leveled, rough places made smooth. This is the scale of work God does in human hearts when he comes. Preparation for his arrival requires more than tidying up; it may mean the demolition of what we have built to keep him out. What terrain in your soul needs to be remade so that the Lord may pass through?
