Isaiah 43:1
But now, this is what the Lord says — he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine."
Reflection
To be called by name is to be fully recognized as a particular person — not a number, not a type, not a category. God does not address his people in the abstract but summons each one specifically, personally, by the name that belongs to them alone. Whatever insecurity or anonymity you feel today, hear the voice of the One who formed you: you are known, you are redeemed, you are his.
Prayer for Today
May the Father of all mercies
cleanse us from our sins,
and restore us in his image
to the praise and glory of his name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
