Scripture Reading

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Reflection
Paul's antidote to anxiety is not willpower or positive thinking — it is prayer with thanksgiving. The peace that follows is described as a guard, something that stands watch over the heart. This is not the peace of resolved circumstances; it is peace that arrives before the situation changes, because it comes from a source outside the situation.
Prayer for Today
Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you what is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever
and ever. Amen.

Amen.
