Scripture Reading
Mark 10:43-45
"But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Reflection
The disciples were jockeying for position, and Jesus reordered the whole map of greatness. In his kingdom, the ladder goes down before it goes up. The model is not abstract; he points to himself: "even the Son of Man came to serve." Every act of genuine service, however small, participates in that same downward movement that saves the world.
Prayer for Today
Good Shepherd, thank You for who You are and for all that You do! Your word says that You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; as a pastor and church leader You have shown me how to be patient when my adversary is around me. You anoint my head with oil and my cup overflows. Lord, You have blessed us and will continue to bless us far beyond what I could ever imagine. You are my God of Abundance! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me as I lead Your people in the way that they should go and I may dwell in Your house forever, Amen.
Amen.
