Ask and It Will Be Given

Scripture Reading

Matthew 7:7-8

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Reflection
Jesus uses three progressive verbs — ask, seek, knock — suggesting a persistence and earnestness in prayer that goes beyond a single polite request. Prayer is not a vending machine but a relationship; it is a conversation with a Father who delights to give good things to his children. Come with your needs, your desires, your questions. The door is open, and the Father is ready to receive you.
Prayer for Today
O Lord, the God of mercies, grant unto the souls of Thy servants the anniversary day of whose burial we are keeping, a place of solace, of peaceful rest, of glorious light.
Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.
