Scripture Reading
Luke 1:35, 38
And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy — the Son of God." ... And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.
Reflection
The Annunciation falls in the middle of Holy Week preparations, and there is a fittingness to it: the same word that began the incarnation drives it to its completion. Mary's "let it be" — her fiat — is the perfect model of Lenten surrender. She did not fully understand what she was agreeing to, but she trusted the one who asked. That trust became the hinge of history.
Prayer for Today
Father of love and grace, I rejoice that I am Your child and that I have been saved by the blood of Christ and made a new creation in Him. Thank You that my sins are all forgiven by grace through faith in Him, and that there is no condemnation to those
who are in Christ Jesus.
Lord, I want to surrender my will to Yours and to say daily, Thy will not mine be done. Help me to step out in faith moment by moment as I surrender my life to You. Uphold me with Your righteous right hand and keep me I pray, from falling. Lead me in
the paths of righteousness for Your names sake, and guide me into the way everlasting. In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
