Scripture Reading
Exodus 17:5-6
And the Lord said to Moses, "Pass on before the people, taking with you some of the elders of Israel, and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink." And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Reflection
Water from a rock is a miracle of pure impossibility — exactly the kind of provision that reminds us that God's resources are not limited by natural expectation. Paul later calls that rock "Christ." When we are in a dry place and cannot see where refreshment will come from, the invitation is to bring the thirst to God and let him provide from where we least expect.
Prayer for Today
May you have -
Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks bedside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire
Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks bedside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire
Amen.
