When Prayer Seems Unanswered

Scripture Reading

Habakkuk 1:2-3

O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you "Violence!" and you will not save? Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise.
Reflection
Habakkuk's raw complaint is included in Scripture not as a warning but as permission — God welcomes honest grief and frustrated questioning. The prophet did not abandon prayer when it felt futile; he intensified it. Bringing our confusion directly to God is itself an act of faith, a refusal to conclude that God is absent simply because his timing differs from ours.
Prayer for Today
Caring Father, You faithfully keep watch over us, never ceasing from making sure we are safe, and never taking Your eyes off us as you guard us. Though we may run into trouble, we know that You will continue to give us the strength to keep our feet firmly planted in the right direction. When we struggle, give us the peace to realize that You have freed our paths from unnecessary problems. In the face of adversity, keep us steadfast so that we may persevere by the assurance of Your faithful presence. Amen.

Amen.
