Scripture Reading

Psalm 42:1-2

As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
Reflection
The psalmist is not describing contentment but longing — a deep spiritual thirst that no earthly satisfaction can quench. Acknowledging that longing is the beginning of prayer. When you feel the ache of something missing, it may be the soul's own voice telling you where to turn. That thirst, taken to God, becomes the very door of encounter.
Prayer for Today
We hear the sounds of the shofar, the ram's horn. May these sounds remind us of those whose lives were lost, and brind comfort to those who loved them. May these sounds challenge us to ask what we have done over these years to bring healing to our world.

Amen.
