Scripture Reading
Colossians 1:15-17
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Reflection
The infant in the manger is the one in whom all things hold together. Paul's cosmic Christology does not compete with the Christmas story — it deepens it. The hands that created galaxies were wrapped in swaddling cloth. The one who holds the universe in coherence was held by a teenage mother. Christmas is not small news; it is the center of everything.
Prayer for Today
I have many things to do today. Bills need to be paid, a dental check-up, an oil change in my car and many other things. Father, I pray that You will be with me as I do all of these things. More importantly, I ask that You show me what plans You have
prepared for me today. May it be that I don't put my plans ahead of Yours, Lord. You know what is best for me, Father, and I love You! Amen
