Ephesians 2:8-10
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Reflection
Salvation is by grace — that is the firm foundation. But grace is not the end of the story: we are God's handiwork, his poem, crafted for a purpose. The good works God prepared for us were written into the plan before we arrived. Ordinary time is the calendar on which those works appear: each day has its prepared moment of kindness, service, courage, or faithfulness.

Our dear Heavenly Father,
we thank thee for this food.
Feed our souls on the bread of life
and help us to do our part in kind words and loving deeds.
