Scripture Reading
Matthew 7:24-25
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."
Reflection
The storm in this parable falls on both houses — hearing and not hearing does not guarantee fair weather. What it determines is whether the house stands when the storm arrives. The foundation is built in ordinary time, in ordinary obedience, long before the test comes. Today's small faithfulness is tomorrow's foundation.
Prayer for Today
Lord, we give thanks to You, for You are good; Your faithful love endures forever. When the winds and the waves rise, and we cringe in terror, we cry out to You in our distress, knowing You can calm the storm to a whisper and still the waves. Please draw near, and be our safety. We praise You for Your great love and the wonderful things You have done for us. Amen.
Amen.
