In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Reflection
Rest is itself an act of faith. To lie down without anxiety is to say, in the language of the body, "I trust that the world does not depend on me tonight." David could sleep not because his circumstances were safe, but because his God was. Tonight, let the peace that surpasses understanding guard your body as well as your mind.
Prayer for Today
Precious Jesus, in You and through faith in You, I may approach You with freedom and confidence! Jesus, I thank You for allowing me to do so, even though I am unworthy and undeserving of Your presence. Thank You for allowing me to come to God. Thank You for always hearing the cries of my heart. Show me how to be as faithful to You as You have been to me. I trust You with all my heart, soul and mind. In Jesus' name, Amen.
