Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
Reflection
On this Memorial Day, we honor those who gave their lives in service to others — who embodied in their sacrifice the very words Jesus spoke. The willingness to lay down one's life for another is the highest expression of human love, reflecting the love of the God who died for us while we were still his enemies. As we remember the fallen today, we also remember the one who called them friends and gave himself for the world. Let gratitude and reverence mark this day.
