Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.'
Reflection
The hunger and thirst Jesus addresses are deeper than physical needs — they are the restlessness of the human soul that no achievement, relationship, or possession can ultimately satisfy. Augustine famously wrote: 'Our heart is restless until it rests in You.' The risen Christ is the only food that truly satisfies, the only water that permanently quenches the soul's thirst. Whatever you have been reaching for to fill the empty place today — bring that hunger to him first.
Prayer for Today
O Lord, there are decisions I have made in the past that have left me hurt, broken, and insecure. Now I have to make another decision, but the past keeps flooding my heart, and it is making me second guess myself. Lord, take control of my mind. Help me
to focus on your leading and not my past failures. In Jesus' name, I believe and pray. Amen.
