I Will Not Leave You Orphans

Scripture Reading

John 14:18

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Reflection
As the days count toward Pentecost, Jesus' promise to send the Spirit becomes more urgent and precious. He will not leave his people as orphans — abandoned, helpless, without resources or belonging. The Spirit he would send is not a consolation prize for the absence of Jesus but his very presence in a new, interior mode. You are not an orphan today. You have a Father, a Brother, and a Comforter dwelling within you. Live from that place of belonging.
Prayer for Today
God,

I am crying out for help in this difficult time.
Help me to find some light in this darkness.
Lift my eyes to see even the faintest glimmer of hope
And hold tight to you.

Lord, you are beside me, stay close today.
Surround me with your love.
Help me to remember your goodness and trust in your saving grace.
May my tears turn to joy
And may your light flood this soul.
For surely you are my saviour,
My friend, and my guide.

Amen.

Amen.
