But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Reflection
Light is the great Easter symbol — the Exsultet proclaims 'the light of Christ' piercing the darkness of Holy Saturday night. To walk in the light is to live openly, honestly, and vulnerably before God and others. It is the posture of those who have nothing left to hide because they know they are already fully forgiven. Authentic fellowship — real community — only becomes possible when we stop hiding and start walking in the light.
Prayer for Today
O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty:
Open our eyes to behold Thy gracious hand in all Thy works;
that, rejoicing in Thy whole creation, we may learn to serve Thee with gladness;
for the sake of him through whom all things were made,
Thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
