The Transfiguration on the Mountain

Scripture Reading

Matthew 17:1-2, 5

And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. ... a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."
Reflection
On the Second Sunday of Lent the Church consistently returns to the Transfiguration — a glimpse of glory in the middle of a journey toward the cross. The disciples needed to see who Jesus really was before they witnessed his suffering. We need this too: to hold the radiant face of Christ in our minds as we walk through the harder passages of Lent, knowing that suffering is not the final word.
Prayer for Today
Divine Infant Jesus, I know You love me and would never leave me. I thank You for Your close Presence in my life.

Miraculous Infant, I believe in Your promise of peace, blessings, and freedom from want. I place every need and care in Your hands.

Lord Jesus, may I always trust in Your generous mercy and love. I want to honor and praise You, now and forever. Amen.

Amen.
