Scripture Reading

Psalm 130:5-7

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption.
Reflection
The image of a night watchman longing for dawn is one of the most evocative in the Psalms. Lent has that quality too: a season of watchful waiting, of darkness before the light, of hope stretched toward Easter. The waiting is not passive but expectant, anchored in the character of a God of steadfast love and plentiful redemption.
Prayer for Today
Faithful Father, thank you that your word revives my soul, gives wisdom to my mind and produces joy in my heart. Restore my relationships that have been damaged by sin. When I have sinned against others, help me to repent and seek forgiveness. When others have sinned against me, help me to forgive just as I have been forgiven by you. May the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved me and gave me eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort my heart and establish me in every good thought, word and deed. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Amen.
