Scripture Reading

Matthew 5:3-6

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
Reflection
The Beatitudes are the most counter-intuitive words ever spoken: the poor, the mourning, the meek are called blessed. Jesus is not romanticizing poverty or grief — he is saying that those who know their need are already positioned to receive what God alone can give. Blessed is not a reward for the future; it is a declaration about the present: these people are, right now, in the right place for grace.
Prayer for Today
May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He smile on you and be gracious to you; may He look your way and give you peace.

Amen.
