The Peaceable Kingdom

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 11:6

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them.
Reflection
Isaiah's vision of the peaceable kingdom is not escapism — it is a declaration of what God intends for the world. The hostilities and predations of this age are not the final word. Something entirely new is coming, and glimpses of it break through even now: in reconciliation, in peacemaking, in communities where enemies become neighbors.
Prayer for Today
Oh Mighty and Loving Father, we come to you today to ask that you grant us peace in the middle of our raging storms.

Give us the peace we desire within our mind, body and soul, so that our hearts would not be troubled even as the gale sweeps down upon us. As the future presents its own fears, calm our storms and settle our hearts.

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Amen.
