Scripture Reading
John 10:14-15
"I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep."
Reflection
The intimacy implied here is extraordinary: Jesus knows his sheep in the same way the Father and Son know one another. This is not casual familiarity but deep, self-giving love. And the proof is the cross. The shepherd who lays down his life is not merely our guardian — he is the one who loves us past the point of his own comfort.
Prayer for Today
Compassionate and loving Father, thank you that I am never alone, your presence calms the troubled sea of my life and speaks peace to my soul. Your word says that my faith will never be put to shame when my trust is in you. Hear my prayer as I ask for
comfort in dealing with the loss of my loved one. Help me to find strength and peace in your presence. Restore joy to my soul. Lord, bless me and keep me, make your face shine upon me. Turn your face towards me and give
me peace. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
