Saint of the Day
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Mary of Nazareth, the mother of Jesus, is honored across Christian traditions as the first and most faithful disciple — the one who said 'let it be done to me according to your word' and carried the Son of God into the world. Her life of humble trust and courageous faith remains a model for all believers.
Scripture Reading
Luke 1:41-43, 45
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, 'Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?... And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.'
Reflection
On the Feast of the Visitation, Mary travels to visit her cousin Elizabeth — and the Holy Spirit moves before the first word is spoken. Elizabeth's blessing confirms what Mary had already believed: the word of the Lord would be fulfilled. The Trinity is present in this humble hillside meeting of two pregnant women: Father, Son (in the womb of Mary), and Spirit (filling Elizabeth). The sacred shows up in ordinary encounters. Whose visit might God use today to confirm a word he has spoken to you?
Prayer for Today
Dear Father, I pray that You will intervene in our marriage and that You will bring restoration to our broken relationship. Lord, as much as I am hurting right now due to my husband's infidelity, I pray that You will help me to forgive him as You have forgiven me for my sinful attitude towards him. Father, bind up the evil spirits that are behind our separation. I pray against the spirit of assassination that is looming over our marriage and I pray that my husband will return home. In Jesus' powerful and healing name. Amen.
Amen.
