Joel 2:28-29
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
Reflection
Joel's promise, fulfilled at Pentecost, broke all the expected boundaries: old and young, men and women, free and servant — all received the Spirit. The Spirit of God is not the private possession of the religious elite. He is poured out lavishly, without partiality, on all who seek him. As Pentecost approaches, ask: Am I open to what the Spirit wants to do through me? Are there ways I have limited where and how I expect God to move?
Prayer for Today
Almighty Father, Lord God, bless me with the power of the Holy Spirit that releases the anointing of the Holy Spirit gifts, boldness, knowledge of the word of God and the grace to diligently and perseveringly watch and pray progressively to save both myself and my hearers through our everlasting saviour Christ Jesus. Amen.
