Saint of the Day
St. Athanasius

St. Athanasius was the Bishop of Alexandria in the 4th century who defended the full divinity of Christ against the Arian heresy, earning the title 'Athanasius contra mundum' — Athanasius against the world. He was exiled five times for his faith but never wavered.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 51:10-12

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Reflection
David's prayer in Psalm 51 is one of the most honest prayers in Scripture — written after devastating failure, yet asking not just for forgiveness but for renewal. He asks God to create what he cannot manufacture: a clean heart, a steadfast spirit, the joy of salvation. This is a prayer for anyone who feels spiritually dry or distant. You cannot make yourself new, but you can ask the one who can.
Prayer for Today
I have learned that it is dangerous to engage in any action that can provoke your anger. Therefore, I am determined to operate within the scope of your mercy. I am sorry for all my past wrong deeds, and I ask you to please forgive me. From now on, I will serve you with the integrity of my heart. I believe in your Son Jesus Christ, and I accept him as my personal Lord and Savior. Please write my name in the book of life, and let it be well with me throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen.
