Scripture Reading

Genesis 22:13-14

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, 'The LORD will provide'; as it is said to this day, 'On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.'
Reflection
Abraham named the place 'Jehovah-Jireh' — the Lord will provide. The provision came at the last possible moment, after Abraham had walked all the way to the top of the mountain in obedience. Often God's provision appears at the end of our obedience, not before it. The ram was already caught in the thicket before Abraham arrived; God had prepared it. Trust today that what you need has already been provided — you may simply not be able to see it yet.
Prayer for Today
O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God, in three Divine Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost; I believe that Thy Divine Son became man and died for our sins and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.

Amen.
