Scripture Reading
John 13:31-32
When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once."
Reflection
Jesus speaks of glory in the shadow of betrayal. Judas has just left the upper room to hand him over, and Jesus says "now is the Son of Man glorified." The glory of God is revealed, paradoxically, in the descent into suffering and death. As Holy Week deepens, we are drawn into this mystery: the cross is not a defeat to be followed by glory, but is itself the form that glory takes in a world broken by sin. We press forward toward the cross and find it radiant.
Prayer for Today
God our life, our light, our breath,
into your loving hands we commit our lives.
Save us in the hour of darkness
and remember us in the glory of your eternal realm;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
into your loving hands we commit our lives.
Save us in the hour of darkness
and remember us in the glory of your eternal realm;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
