A Ransom for Many

Scripture Reading

Matthew 20:27-28

"… and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Reflection
Jesus did not come to accumulate but to give — to pour out his life as a ransom that sets us free. This is the heart of Lent: not our merit or our sacrifice, but his. We fast and pray not to earn freedom but because we have been freed. Every Lenten discipline is a small echo of the great self-giving of Christ, who descended all the way to the cross for love of us.
Prayer for Today
Father, as we come before You today in the name of Jesus, we declare that You are God and earnestly we will seek You. Father, it's our desire to see You in the sanctuary; to behold Your power and Your glory. Father, Your love is greater than life and our lips will glorify You. We will praise You as long as we live and in Your name we will lift up our hands. You have satisfied our souls as with the riches of foods and with singing lips our mouths will give You praise.
(Psalm 63:1-5)

Amen.
