Scripture Reading
Romans 8:14-16
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
Reflection
The word "Abba" is intimate — closer to "Papa" than to the formal "Father." Paul says the Spirit draws this word out of our deepest selves, bearing witness that we are not strangers to God but beloved children. This identity — child of the living God — is the foundation of everything. You are not a servant performing to earn approval; you are a child already beloved. Live from that place today.
Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, we will face many terrifying events throughout this life, but may we never forget that the ultimate victory belongs to you. Through your sacrifice, death has been defeated. As we continue to walk in your truth, help us to set our eyes on Heavenly things. Amen.
Amen.
